Le Nouvel An – a French countdown to 2018

Le Nouvel An - a French countdown to 2018

Bonne Année! I hope that 2017 was a good year for everyone, and that 2018 will be even better! I’ve been busy during my break getting some relaxation, visiting with my daughter (who has moved away for college, so I don’t get to see her enough) and generally doing whatever I want, when I feel like doing it. I watched last night’s light show celebrating Le Nouvel An on the Champs-Elysées and was very impressed.

I’m planning to visit Europe this summer and have spent much of my vacation pondering my choices. France and Germany are must-visits, but Croatia, England, Ireland, Belgium and Austria are also in the running. It’s so hard to make these decisions! I plan to show Macron’s 2018 voeux presidentielles when we go back in a week. The entire speech is available, but Macron also released a shorter version for the youth of France. This is the one I plan to show. There are so many great things to use from the speech!

Comprehensible Input and Le Nouvel An

Over the break, I also came up with a comprehensible input lesson for Le Nouvel An. It talks about the holiday and celebrations in France, as well as how to write the future tense and make resolutions. It also discusses the holiday of Epiphany and the custom of the King’s Cake. You can find the lesson here at the TPT store or click on the image to get the lesson here on Frenchified.
