This fun novice level French reading is a short story about Chinese New Year and the traditions of the festival. It is written in the present tense, with limited vocabulary and a glossary to help with new words. It includes two different readings – one non-fiction reading about how the holiday is celebrated and a short story about a Chinese-Canadian girl who is struggling with the traditions of the holiday.
After you finish the readings, there are comprehension questions and a story retell/rewrite activity. The readings are in printable pdf form as well as a PowerPoint version of each reading – read together as a class, or assign for individual reading.
