This French listening activity will have your students listening carefully so that they can listen and draw the illustrations for these 7 stories!
Each of the 7 stories has two versions – one in the present tense, one in the past tense. As you read the story aloud, students will listen and draw what they hear on the printable illustration sheet.
Each French listen and draw story has a spring theme and limited vocabulary. While the stories are short, they have a clear plot with a beginning, middle and end.
If you’d rather use the stories as a reading comprehension activity, that’s fine! Students will read and draw the illustrations. You can also use the illustration sheet for your own stories.
This is a fun activity that my students love to do – it lets them sit back and just listen to the language but also use crayons or colored pencils. They have the chance to be creative without stressing over producing the language.
The stories are:
Le Jardin de Lucie – Lucie has a rabbit in her garden – how can she keep him from eating her vegetables but keep the rabbit safe?
L’amour au parc – Two dogs keep meeting up at the park. They like each other, but is there more behind their efforts to visit the park?
Il pleut encore! – Tom loves to play soccer, but it’s been raining all day. He is bored with his books and video games. How can his mom keep him busy?
Luminos – Luminos is a magical creature who grants a wish to the first person he meets each spring. Eva happens to run into him – and Luminos is surprised at the wish she makes!
Les cerfs-volants – It’s time for the big kite-flying competition. Camille hopes to win, but she runs into trouble at the start of the competition. How can she still compete?
La chasse aux oeufs – Léa and Maxime are having a family egg hunt, but their father has a few surprises up his sleeve. What is hidden in the eggs?
Le concours des tartes – It’s Pi day and the school is having a pie competition. Some of the pies are delicious – and some, not so much.
