Novice Low/Mid Beginning French clothing escape game – clothing, colors, IR/ISS verbs

This Beginning French clothing escape game is a game that your students will be able to play in French level 1! They will use their language skills to help Bruce (who has a secret identity) to go clothing shopping.

In order to do this activity, students need to:

• understand the names of various clothing items in French?
• understand different colors in French?
• conjugate IR/ISS verbs?
• read short passages about fashion in French?
• watch a short video in French about jeans?

The students will use their reading, listening, and vocabulary skills to complete the tasks. There are different tasks to complete, each one allowing them to practice talking about clothing and colors French.

The tasks include:

• Reading/vocabulary – put the correct items in the shopping bag
• Grammar – conjugate the IR/ISS verbs
• Listening/vocabulary – match the image with the description
• Reading – read the short passages about fashion and sort the statements
• Listening – watch the video about manufacturing jeans and answer the questions

At the end of the game, once they have completed the tasks, they will see a congratulations screen with an image. You will want them to take a screenshot to share with you as proof that they have completed the game.

The game is hosted in genial.ly – so no Google forms, and students don’t need to log in (other than typing their name at the beginning of the game). It is self-grading and students can’t move on to the next task until they’ve successfully completed the first one. No prep – just share the link with your students and they can start the game.
