This beginning French family escape game is a game that your students will be able to play in French level 1! They will use their language skills to plan a birthday party for a vampire – Claudio – who is 126 years old!
In order to do this activity, students need to know:
- How to talk about the family in French
- How to understand numbers in the tens and hundreds in French
- How to understand descriptions of people in French
- How to talk about birthday gifts in French
- How to use avoir and être in descriptions about people
The students will use their reading, listening, and writing skills to complete the tasks. There are different tasks to complete, each one allowing them to practice talking about family, ages, and descriptions in French.
The tasks include:
- Reading/vocabulary – label the family tree based on the reading
- Listening/writing – fill out the form with the description of the vampire based on the audio
- Listening/vocabulary – Choose the correct birthday gift based on the audio
- Grammar – fill in the missing form of either avoir or être
- Reading/numbers – read the number and write the digits for the age of the vampire
At the end of the game, once they have completed the tasks, they will see a congratulations screen with an image. You will want them to take a screenshot to share with you as proof that they have completed the game.
The game is hosted in genial.ly – so no Google forms, and students don’t need to log in (other than typing their name at the beginning of the game). It is self-grading and students can’t move on to the next task until they’ve successfully completed the first one. No prep – just share the link with your students and they can start the game.
