This beginning French escape room is a game that your students will be able to play in the very first month of French level 1! They will use their language skills to find the identity of “La Tomate” – a criminal mastermind who wants to control the world’s supply of tomatoes.
In order to do this beginning French escape activity, students need to know:
- How to introduce yourself in French
- How to talk about someone’s nationality
- The French alphabet
The students will use their reading, listening, writing and logic skills to find the identity of the suspect. There are 5 different tasks to complete, each one allowing them to practice introductions in French.
The tasks include:
- Identify your colleagues in the intelligence community (reading)
- Put together a puzzle (explanation of masculine/feminine adjectives)
- Fill out a chart with different forms of nationalities (writing)
- Fill out a dossier on the 6 suspects (listening, writing)
- Use the information to solve a logic puzzle (grammar, logic)
At the end of the puzzle, if they’ve identified the suspect correctly they will be given a congratulations gift of “free pizza for life.”
The game is hosted in genial.ly – so no Google forms, and students don’t need to log in (other than typing their name at the beginning of the game). It is self-grading and students can’t move on to the next task until they’ve successfully completed the first one. No prep – just share the link with your students and they can start the game.
