This Baguette Magique French short story French reading tells a cute story as well as teaching about a very important bit of French culture – la baguette.  Each day, the local baker sells one special bread – the “baguette magique.” And each day, the recipient sees something special happen in his or her life. Joseph wants to learn the secret of the bread, but the baker tells him it will take time. What is the secret? Find out in this reading for intermediate and advanced French students.

This activity packet includes a 4 page story – appropriate for 2nd year and later French students, with comprehension questions in English and French and other activities. The story has two different versions – one in the present tense and one in the past tense using imparfait and passé composé.
