This Saint-MaloFrench reading comprehension activity will teach your students about the city of Saint-Malo and its pirate history. Saint-Malo is a beautiful city that attracts thousands of tourists each day, but it has a somewhat shady past. Learn about the pirates who lived there as well as the fate of the city in World War 2.
This Saint-Malo French reading is suitable for novice-high/intermediate-low students with teacher guidance and higher-level students to work independently. If you teach AP French, this reading can be useful in giving your students practice reading nonfiction articles for the interpretive section of the test. The reading can lead to discussion or writing activities to include the other two modes of communication.
Along with the article, there is a 2-page worksheet with text-dependent questions. The worksheet is both in English and in French, so you can focus on reading skills or reading and writing.
