Antoine-Augustin Parmentier French reading activity for Boom™ cards

This Parmentier French reading activity will teach your students about the work of Antoine-Augustin Parmentier, the man who introduced and popularized potatoes to French kitchens.  It is suitable for novice-high/intermediate-low students with teacher guidance and higher level students to work independently.  If you teach AP French, this reading can be useful in giving your students practice reading non-fiction articles for the interpretive section of the test.  The reading can lead to discussion or writing activities to include the other two modes of communication.

Without the work of pharmacist Antoine-Augustin Parmentier, the French diet would likely not have so many recipes featuring the potato. He was the first to recognize the value of this food, but his fellow Frenchmen were difficult to convince. Learn how he was able to get them to finally accept the humble potato into their diets.
