This fun intermediate/advanced level Loneliest Whale French reading comprehension activity is a short story about the loneliest whale in the world – 52 Blue. It includes a one-page reading about the discover of the 52 hertz whale and a three-page short story about the whale and why she sings at 52 hertz. The story is based on a true phenomenon – a whale that sings at a different frequency than all other whales in the world.
The story is in the passé composé and imparfait and is suitable for levels 2 and higher in French. After you finish the readings, there are comprehension questions and a story retell/rewrite activity.
