Les Sapeurs French reading comprehension activity

This Sapeurs French reading comprehension activity will teach your students about the history of SAPEurs and their role in African culture.  It is suitable for novice-high/intermediate-low students with teacher guidance and higher-level students to work independently.  If you teach AP French, this reading can be useful in giving your students practice reading nonfiction articles for the interpretive section of the test.  The reading can lead to discussion or writing activities to include the other two modes of communication.

Les SAPEurs are members of a special society, one that loves to dress elegantly and show off their style. Despite living in poverty, many of the members of the society find a way to dress like the most elegant gentlemen of the past. Learn about the origins of the society and their current situation in this reading for intermediate/advanced French learners. Reading is in passé composé and imparfait.
