This French leisure-themed beginning French escape room is a game that your students will be able to play in the very first months of French level 1! They will use their language skills to help Chloé and Lucas to decide whether or not they have a future as a couple – or if they will be friend zoned forever.
In order to do this activity, students need to know:
- How to order at a café in French
- How to understand common food items in French
- How to read descriptions of movies in French
- How to read short passages about sports in French
- How to read official documents about using the Paris transport system
The students will use their reading, listening, and writing skills to complete the tasks. There are different tasks to complete, each one allowing them to practice talking about French leisure activities such as food, movies, transportation and sports.
The French leisure activities tasks include:
- Listening/vocabulary – select the correct food items ordered by the customer
- Conversation – put the lines of the conversation between a waiter and a customer in the correct order
- Reading – match the description of the film to the movie poster
- Reading – read three short passages about PSG, the French Open and Pari-Roller and then answer multiple choice questions
- Reading – using official documents from the RATP, answer questions about public transportation in Paris
At the end of the game, once they have completed the tasks, they will see a congratulations screen with a surprise image. You will want them to take a screenshot to share with you as proof that they have completed the game.
The game is hosted in genial.ly – so no Google forms, and students don’t need to log in (other than typing their name at the beginning of the game). It is self-grading and students can’t move on to the next task until they’ve successfully completed the first one. No prep – just share the link with your students and they can start the game.
