This beginning French escape room is a game that your students will be able to play in the very first months of French level 1 – it is about French invitations and talking about your likes and dislikes. They will use their language skills to find try to win a pair of tickets to a Beyoncé concert.
In order to do this activity, students need to know:
- How to talk about likes and dislikes in French
- How to make, accept and reject invitations
- The ER verb endings for je, tu, il/elle and ils/elles forms
The students will use their reading, listening, and writing skills to complete the tasks. There are 5 different tasks to complete, each one allowing them to practice talking about likes, dislikes and activities and French invitations.
The tasks include:
- Identify each person by their preferred activities (reading)
- Put items in the order of love to hate based on audio (listening)
- Determine whether a person would accept or reject an invitation based on their likes (reading)
- Complete a passage with the correct ER verb endings (writing)
- Determine what activity an invitation is for and whether it is accepted or rejected (listening)
At the end of the game, once they have completed the tasks they will see a congratulations screen with the two concert tickets. You will want them to take a screenshot to share with you as proof that they have completed the game.
The game is hosted in genial.ly – so no Google forms, and students don’t need to log in (other than typing their name at the beginning of the game). It is self-grading and students can’t move on to the next task until they’ve successfully completed the first one. No prep – just share the link with your students and they can start the game.
