With my students, I try to teach a “mini-lesson” of 5-10 minutes after a warm-up at the start of class. I introduce new vocabulary, grammar, or a concept. Then, I need students to have an individual activity that students can do for 15-20 minutes that reinforces the mini-lesson. These house puzzles are absolutely perfect for reinforcing and expanding on home vocabulary. I love Boom Cards, but they make sounds and students need to get headphones and it takes some time to get everyone settled. These puzzles are great because I can just make an assignment on Google Classroom, everyone has their own copy to work on, and I can focus on walking around and helping students that are lost while students who are at a higher level can work at their own pace. Definitely a fun activity and with so many different versions, it was easy to choose which vocabulary I wanted to focus on. Still some small errors with the wrong picture on the tiles so some of the final solutions don’t look right. – Tanya V.
