This fun novice/intermediate level French Father’s Day reading is a short story about a Fête des Pères and the celebration of the holiday. There are two versions of the story – one written in the present tense and one in written in the passé composé and imparfait. Both have a glossary to help with new words. There is also a reading about the history and traditions of Father’s Day.
In the story, a group of fathers has banded together to become superheroes – but the only thing they succeed in doing is embarrassing their children. Whether it’s by making bad jokes or just doing weird things, the kids can’t deal with their dorky fathers.
After you finish the readings, there are comprehension questions and a story retell/rewrite activity. The readings are in printable pdf form as well as a PowerPoint version of each reading – read together as a class, or assign for individual reading.
