This French April Fool’s Day digital escape game will have your students using their reading and listening comprehension skills to learn about the holiday, its history, and how it is celebrated.
The instructions are in English, while the activities are in French. It is suitable for level 2 and higher or level 1 with teacher support.
The French April Fool’s Day activities include:
- Reading – read three passages about the history of the holiday and how it is celebrated in France, then answer comprehension questions
- Vocabulary – read through the list of vocabulary words about humor and April Fool’s, then do a word search to find the words
- Reading – read a short summary of a fake news story, then match it with the image of the story (matching game)
- Reading – Read the stories, and select which one is real and which one is fake
- Listening – listen to the audio description of the fish, then put the correct fish on each person’s back
The lesson is in genial.ly and does not require students to log in or have an account – just share the link and start! The activity is self-grading and students will move along as they get the answers correct. When students complete the lesson, they will be given a congratulations page to prove that they have done the work – you can have them take a screenshot of the page, or show it to you when they have finished.
