This beginning French school escape room is a game that your students will be able to play in the very first months of French level 1! They will use their language skills to convince Adriana to accept a date with Joseph.
In order to do this activity, students need to know:
- How to talk about school supplies in French
- How to talk about a school schedule in French
- How to read numbers in French
- The verb être in the present tense
The students will use their reading, listening, and writing skills to complete the tasks. There are 5 different tasks to complete, each one allowing them to practice talking about school, prices, and the verb être in French.
The French school escape game tasks include:
- Listening – put the subjects in the correct order to describe a French school schedule
- Reading – read the price of the school supply and then fill out the price tag
- Vocabulary – put the school supplies in the shopping cart
- Grammar/writing – put the correct form of the verb être in the paragraph
- Reading – read a short passage about the Bac, la rentrée, and the French school system and answer several questions
- Listening – What did Joseph ask, and how did Adriana respond?
At the end of the game, once they have completed the tasks they will see a congratulations screen with a suprise image. You will want them to take a screenshot to share with you as proof that they have completed the game.
The game is hosted in genial.ly – so no Google forms, and students don’t need to log in (other than typing their name at the beginning of the game). It is self-grading and students can’t move on to the next task until they’ve successfully completed the first one. No prep – just share the link with your students and they can start the game.
