This French Pi Day digital escape game will have your students using their reading and listening comprehension skills to learn about pi, pie and March 14. It includes a variety of activities that are fun and interesting, all having to do with pi day.
The instructions are in English, while the activities are in French. It is suitable for level 2 and higher or level 1 with teacher support.
The French Pi Day activities include:
- A word search – find the 13 words in French that start with the letters “pi” based on an image
- Readings – read about 5 different round foods that are popular in France, then match the images to the items
- Reading – read about 5 different people who were born on March 14, then answer comprehension questions about the people
- Listening – listen to 6 descriptions of different pies from around the world, then match the image to the name of the pie
- Reading – read the recipe for tarte tatin, then put the correct items in the grocery basket
- Put the steps for making the tarte tatin in the correct order
- Math – use the formula to determine the circumference of 5 different round items associated with the Francophone world
The lesson is in genial.ly and does not require students to log in or have an account – just share the link and start! The activity is self-grading and students will move along as they get the answers correct. When students complete the lesson, they will be given a congratulations page to prove that they have done the work – you can have them take a screenshot of the page, or show it to you when they have finished.
