Le lycée – French Comprehensible Input unit 3 for beginning French

A French comprehensible input unit 3 that can be used in the first year of French. It builds on the vocabulary from the Bonjour and J’aime units Includes lesson plans for 10 days, talking about school and telling time. This unit includes the following materials:

• Handouts to practice writing and reading about a school schedule
• Handout to practice reading about school supplies
• Handout for students to practice asking each other about their schedule
• Handout for students to practicing asking about prices
• Short story using vocabulary from the unit
• Cloze activities to accompany story – one with and one without word bank
• Running dictation game to accompany short story
• Handout for short story retell/rewrite
• animated video of short story
• Short assessments for unit: reading, listening, presentation speaking, interpersonal communication and presentational writing
• A printable set of number pages 0-20, 30, 40, 50 for use when teaching numbers without teaching to count

Use the unit on its own or as a follow-up to the Bonjour and J’aime units.

Use the unit as a jumping off point to start your year off comprehensibly! This unit is especially useful if:

• You are required to teach a textbook curriculum but prefer CI – it follows some of the most common sequencing found in current French textbooks.
• You want to do CI but you need a little bit of structure.
• You are required to give a common district final – it covers many of the things found in most first semester courses.
