The weather forecast on the phone said it was going to start snowing at 8:45 this morning and sure enough, at 8:43 it started coming down. It’s a light but steady snow that is starting to accumulate. The forecast called for 2cm and it looks like we will easily get that much.
Despite the snow, the construction work continues. They are now adding a new floor. We’ve been watching the crane move things back and forth all week. If the building is exactly like the one right across from us (and we think it is), there will be one more level after this one, then the roof.

We took a tram over to the neighborhood where Zbyszek’s grandparents lived. It has changed a lot since we visited them back in 1994. They’ve built a bunch of additional apartment buildings in the area. The building where they lived has a fresh coat of paint and has probably been refurbished inside, but we obviously can’t go in and see it.

On our way home we stopped at the mall to warm up for a few minutes. The mall is built on top of the old city moat, which they kept as part of the architecture. It’s so nice and warm inside, a good break from the cold and snowy weather outside. This mall is a bit fancier than the other one we went to, with Chanel and other foreign stores. The food court is very Americanized, with a McDonald’s, Burger King, Pizza Hut and KFC. There’s a bunch of greenery to fill up the space as well.

It looks like tomorrow should be a non-snowy day, but still fairly cold. One of these days Z is hoping to go to the beach, but since the paths are unlikely to be sanded or swept, that may have to wait a while longer.
