This intermediate French digital escape room will have your students practicing the passé composé with a Groundhog day theme (but it can be played any time of year!)
The premise and instructions are given in English, but the tasks are all in French. The game is suitable for level 2 and higher. Your students are stuck in a time loop, and February 2 keeps repeating. The only way to escape the time loop is to complete all of the tasks and master the French past tense.
If you have a paid Boom™ account, you can assign the deck and view reports of student data to see that they’ve completed the challenges. If you have a free account, you can have your students play using FastPlay – give them the link or a PIN and they can play and show you the final screen to prove that they’ve completed the game.
The Boom™ cards French Groundhog day passé composé tasks include:
- Helping verbs – select the correct form of either avoir or être
- Put the set of events in the correct order
- Fill in the blank with the correct form of the past participle
- Match the statement to the possible subject – mascuine, feminine, plural or can’t tell
- Put statements in the correct bucket – past, present or future
