A set of France cultural readings and activities about French cultural topics.
Includes school, a trip to Paris, the Métro, Sports in France, Pets in France, French cuisine, and Christmas in France.
Each unit includes readings about the cultural aspect as well as activities and comprehension questions. Some units include vocabulary posters that you can print or share digitally. Each unit has activities that will allow students to learn more about the topics – students will plan a trip to Paris, learn how to use the Metro, find a house or an apartment and more! Some of the readings include both an English and French version, so they can be used even with first year French courses.
There are six different topics in the France cultural readings –
Le Metro: learn how to use the Metro, the history of the train system, and vocabulary you’ll need to get around. Also includes information about other types of transportation in Paris.
School in France: Learn how the school system is set up, what the BAC is, what students eat for lunch at school, how to read a report card and how to shop for school supplies.
French houses and apartments: Learn about the differences between American and French houses, buying a house en viagère, how to buy/sell a house, and vocabulary for different parts of the home.
Pets in France: Learn about what kind of pets French people like and the problem of dog poop in French cities.
French cuisine: Learn about the different types of food (haute cuisine, fast food, home cooking) in France, and some of the different dishes that French people enjoy eating.
Sports: What sports to French people like to play? What soccer teams are the most popular? And what is the French sport of Pétanque?
The bundle of France cultural readings is a nice variety of different topics that your students will be able to use to compare and contrast life in France with their home country.

This was a lifesaver! Thankyou, please let me know when there are further additions to this collection. I am desperate for reading material for my students.

My students love it. This is a great resource (I teach in middle school) !

I wish this was a little more scaffolded for beginners but is very useful for intermediate learners and can be adapted for beginners with a little effort.

I used this with my pre-AP students to expose them to more culture and help them start to prepare for the cultural comparison on the AP exam. The readings are lengthier but comprehensible and the accompanying activities help students do more with what they learn.

As usual, Frenchified resources are the best!

This set of readings is comprehensive and exactly what I need to add to my units as I move away from the textbook. You think of everything! Thanks!

I thought there were activities or PowerPoints with this. I am so upset I wasted $45 getting the bundle. I wish I had my money back. I am in tears! This looks like someone just scanned a book in and that’s all. 🙁

I have not used all of these, but I am very glad to have them handy to use in between my units if I’m not ready to start the next one, or to leave a sub plans. So far the ones we have used are great!
