Paris Monuments French reading comprehension activities
Paris is the dream destination for many French students, and these Paris Monuments reading comprehension activities might be just what you’re looking for!
Each Paris monuments reading is differentiated, with three different versions – novice high, intermediate low and intermediate mid. You can use them with ALL of your classes, even if you teach different levels.
With each reading you’ll find a glossary of any terms that may not be familiar as well as comprehension questions in both English and French. There are also extension activities, so your fast finishers will have something to do – or you can assign them as little projects for everyone to get a better understanding of the monuments.
The Paris monuments include the Louvre museum, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, Versailles, the Père Lachaise cemetery and Notre-Dame cathedral. The readings include the history of each monument as well as its role today.
These readings can be used as part of a classroom library or as a sub plan as well. Higher-level students can work independently while beginners might enjoy this more as a class reading.

Each reading has 3 versions, images, and a glossary of new terms.

Includes comprehension questions in English and French.

A variety of tasks, from basic to more involved for extension activities
Here’s what other teachers have said about the Paris Monuments activities:
I used this for homeschooling my 10-year-old son who is learning French as a second language. It was also very helpful during our France country study
This resource provided a lot of supplemental information for students and challenged them in terms of vocabulary and comprehension.
Great for review of monuments in Paris, could be used to help AP students review some culture or in a unit on Paris in class. Thank you for the great work as always.
A great resource full of useful activities. My students felt challenged but not overwhelmed by the texts.
This is such a comprehensive review of many important monuments in France. My students enjoyed it very much.
I like to use these readings for emergency sub plans. I love how comprehensible they are and the fact that my students actually feel confident answering the comprehension questions, so it’s really not busy work. Merci!
I am using The Eiffel Tower reading to finish up my virtual French classes. I am using it in many ways – pronunciation practice (having the students read out loud), translation practice and then discuss the grammar in each sentence along with the cultural info. Great! Saved me time! Merci Beaucoup!!
These are wonderful units. I have used the first three and will use those and the rest of them again. The students love the pictures, and the commentary. They were not quite up to the level in all cases but they will be willing to come back to them. They are multi-age with different levels of competence and they help each other so these units provide rich resources for collaboration.
