It was a short week with Monday off for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. It’s nice to have that little break coming right off of winter vacation!
Tuesday, we played the ‘grab it’ game with the words for toiletries. The kids got a copy of the page to put in their notebooks and we went over the spelling. I brought in a gant de toilette so they could see how it worked.
Wednesday, we were in the computer lab. We do a lot of different things in there. This week, I had them finish up a little project for our French pen-pals using padlet – they had to put a picture of something here in AZ and write a little bit in French. Then they used Voces. We’ve not used that before, but I got a free trial and wanted to try it out to see how it works.
Thursday we did lots of cultural stuff. It’s our song of the week, so we watched Black M’s French kiss. It was the perfect way to introduce the French version of “he loves me, he loves me not” as well as discussing the title of the excellent movie we watched last year and that the kids loved. We also looked at the writing challenge from astronaut Thomas Pesquet and talked about Le Petit Prince a bit. Then we did an exciting (right!) worksheet on reflexive verbs.
Friday was Carmen day. We are working our way through the novella, and they finally got to really get to know Carmen a little bit. We’ve been talking about how Jose always makes the stupid choice and of course, they all know someone like that!
